SKAL vs Clay: a different shape of the same problem.
Clay is a sales-engineering tool. SKAL Scale is outbound infrastructure as a service.
Clay is the most flexible data enrichment and waterfall tool on the market. If you have a sales engineer who lives in Clay, you can build almost anything. SKAL Scale takes the opposite approach: we run the entire outbound function for you, including the data, sequencing, and pay only when a qualified meeting lands on your calendar. Pick Clay if you want a tool. Pick SKAL if you want pipeline.
When to pick each.
SKAL fits your situation
- You are a founder or revenue leader who wants pipeline, not a data tool to manage.
- You do not have a Clay-fluent sales engineer in house.
- You want pay-per-qualified-meeting pricing rather than a $349-plus monthly seat plus credits.
- You want the contact data sourced and maintained for you, not assembled from waterfall sources you have to configure.
Clay fits your situation
- You have a sales-ops or sales-engineering team that wants control over every step of the workflow.
- You already have your own contact data, ICP definition, and copy and just need orchestration.
- You are running campaigns at a scale that makes per-credit pricing materially cheaper than a managed service.
Side by side.
| Feature | SKAL Scale | Clay |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Pay per qualified meeting + small setup fee | Monthly seat from $149 + credit consumption |
| Contact data | Proprietary in-house database, exclusive to SKAL Scale | Waterfall across third-party providers (you bring your own credits or BYO data) |
| Setup time | Live with pipeline in ~3 days | Days to weeks depending on workflow complexity and team Clay fluency |
| Skill required | None. We run it. | A Clay-fluent operator. Expect to hire or train one. |
| Copy and sequencing | Written and tested by our team, iterated weekly | You write and orchestrate. AI assistants help. |
| Channels | Email, LinkedIn, voice | Email primarily, integrations for the rest |
| Reporting | Meetings booked, attended, closed | Workflow-level analytics, manual revenue attribution |
| Best for | Founders and revenue leaders who want pipeline | Sales-ops teams who want a building-block tool |
Clay is brilliant software. If you have the operator to drive it, almost nothing competes for flexibility. But most B2B founders we talk to do not want to learn a new tool, hire a Clay specialist, and own the entire outbound engine. They want meetings on the calendar. That is what SKAL Scale does, and we only get paid when it works.
Questions teams ask before switching.
Can we use SKAL Scale alongside Clay?
+
Yes, and many of our customers do. Clay handles bespoke enrichment workflows for the inbound or expansion side. SKAL runs the outbound. They do not conflict.
Where does SKAL's contact data come from?
+
A proprietary in-house database we build and maintain. It is not waterfall-sourced from the same providers every other outbound team uses, which is why our reply rates tend to outperform tools that draw from the same poisoned pools.
How does pay-per-meeting actually work?
+
You pay a small one-time setup fee for ICP definition, database build, and campaign launch. After that, you pay per qualified meeting that lands on your calendar. A qualified meeting is a confirmed, attended call with a decider who matches your ICP. No-shows do not count. Pricing is shared on the discovery call.
What if I have already built a Clay stack but it is not producing meetings?
+
That is the most common reason teams move to SKAL. We can audit the existing stack on the discovery call and recommend whether to migrate fully, run SKAL in parallel as a benchmark, or simply fix what Clay is doing today.
